The community held the first meeting of the working group tasked with developing the Local Waste Management Plan up to 2036. Experts from the WM4U programme, \u2018Strengthening Municipal Waste Management in Ukraine\u2019, have joined the effort, providing the community with methodological and expert support in preparing the document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants discussed the organisation of the plan development process, the collection of necessary baseline data, the current state of waste management in the community, and the next steps in preparing the document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, Viktor Gudenez, a WM4U programme expert on the development of local waste management plans, presented the main stages of creating the Local Waste Management Plan in accordance with the requirements of current legislation. He outlined the key areas to be considered during planning, in particular the development of separate waste collection systems, container infrastructure, and specialised vehicles for their collection and transport, as well as the modernisation of existing waste treatment infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Particular attention was paid to the collection and analysis of data required for the development of the plan. This concerns not only household waste but also other types of waste, including hazardous waste, construction waste, bio-waste, waste electrical and electronic equipment, and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the discussion, Oleksandr Ignatenko, the WM4U programme\u2019s national waste management expert, emphasised the importance of high-quality planning as the foundation for the further development of a modern waste management system. According to him, the local plan must be aligned with the regional waste management plan and the cluster concept \u2013 the development of which was also initiated by the WM4U Programme \u2013 and serve as a practical tool for decision-making regarding infrastructure development, improving service quality and ensuring compliance with waste management legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next stages of the work will involve gathering the necessary information, preparing a draft plan, conducting a strategic environmental assessment and public consultation, after which the document will be submitted for approval and adoption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The development of a local waste management plan will help the Kremenchuk community to identify priorities for the development of the waste management system for the coming decade and to plan the necessary infrastructure and organisational solutions in line with European approaches.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1472,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"news_category":[],"news_tag":[],"class_list":["post-1421","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
