The equipment was donated by the company Borås Energi & Miljö and will be installed at household waste collection sites. The installation of these new containers will not only improve sanitation in the community but also make the waste collection process more organized and convenient for residents.

The implementation of the Swedish-Ukrainian WM4U program is the result of international cooperation. We thank our partners from Sweden for helping to transform the household waste management system in Ukraine in accordance with EU legislation,” says Tetiana Hradyuk, Chair of the Tysmenytsia City Council.

The day before, the WM4U program team visited the community and inspected the local waste collection infrastructure: the existing containers were not in the best condition — so an upgrade with similar euro standard containers would be beneficial.

There are several waste collection points in the community where containers need to be replaced. Receiving additional containers will also open up opportunities to establish new collection points, introduce waste sorting, or expand waste collection to more remote areas of the community. Borås Energi & Miljö’s contribution will help the community implement all these improvements,” concludes Klas Svensson, International Donations Coordinator.

The installation of new equipment in the community is another step toward transforming the community’s infrastructure and implementing a modern, environmentally friendly waste management model.

The “Donations of equipment” component of the WM4U programme aims to enhance technical capacity for the collection and transportation of household waste in Ukraine by providing equipment such as trash bins, containers, and garbage trucks. Under this component, Swedish municipalities transfer existing equipment to Ukrainian communities, while the WM4U programme acts as a partner — facilitating the organization and ensuring the transportation of equipment to communities in four pilot clusters in the Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions.
