The Ivano-Frankivsk territorіal community has begun preparing a Local Waste Management Plan for the period up to 2034. The document serves as a strategy that will define the city’s approaches to waste collection, sorting, and recycling.
The document will outline mechanisms for reducing waste volumes, decreasing landfill disposal, and transitioning to a circular economy — a model in which waste is viewed as a resource.
Representatives of local government, business, civil society organizations, environmental experts, and active residents are invited to participate in the working group.
Work on the plan will take place within the Swedish–Ukrainian WM4U Programme, which aims to support the development of modern, systemic, and environmentally responsible waste management solutions at local, regional and national levels.
The program is funded by the Government of Sweden through Sida and led by Avfall Sverige and SALAR International.
