The Blyznykiv Town Council in Kharkiv Oblast has begun developing a Local Waste Management Plan (LWMP), which will include a set of measures to establish a modern and sustainable waste management system within the community.
A working group is being formed within the community to prepare the document. Representatives of local government bodies, businesses, higher education institutions, research institutions, local and regional development agencies, and civil society organizations are invited to participate.
The community is also calling on residents and all interested parties to submit their proposals for the draft LWM Plan by June 12, 2026.
Local waste management plans are intended to help communities develop modern systems for waste collection, sorting, and recycling.
Work on the plan will take place within the Swedish-Ukrainian WM4U Programme, which aims to support the development of modern, systemic, and environmentally responsible waste management solutions at local, regional and national levels. The program is funded by the Government of Sweden through Sida and led by Avfall Sverige and SALAR International.
