The Lozivska Community in the Kharkiv region is developing a Local Waste Management Plan (LWMP), which will serve as its waste management strategy through 2035.

The plan will help the community systematically plan the collection, transportation and treatment of waste, as well as implement modern environmental solutions in accordance with the requirements of Ukrainian legislation and European approaches.

The community is already forming a working group to prepare proposals for the future plan. Representatives of local government, businesses, educational institutions, organizations, civil society groups, and anyone interested in developing an effective waste management system are invited to participate.

Community residents, businesses, and civic associations are encouraged to participate in shaping the future plan and to submit their proposals by June 25, 2026, to the email address: mr_lozova@lozovarada.gov.ua

Community officials note that involving various stakeholders in the preparation of the Waste Management Plan will allow for the needs of the region to be taken into account and for practical solutions to be developed to improve the quality of services in this sector.

Work on the plan will take place within the Swedish–Ukrainian WM4U Programme, which aims to support the development of modern, systemic, and environmentally responsible waste management solutions at local, regional and national levels. The programme is funded by the Government of Sweden through Sida and led by Avfall Sverige and SALAR International.
