The Litinska territorial community in Vinnytsia Oblast has begun developing a Local Waste Management Plan (LWMP). The plan will set out the development of the community’s waste management system up to 2036 and will serve as a strategic document setting out objectives and measures to create a modern, efficient and environmentally sound waste management system.

The document is intended to ensure the sustainable development of waste management within the community, based on an analysis of the current situation, the identification of priority needs and the implementation of modern approaches. The plan will also take into account the principles of cooperation between all stakeholders and will contribute to the development of an effective waste management system.

A working group is being set up within the community to prepare the LWM Plan. Representatives of local authorities, businesses, higher education institutions, research organisations, local and regional development agencies, associations of local authorities and civil society organisations are invited to participate.

The working group’s main tasks include preparing proposals for the draft local waste management plan and agreeing on joint approaches to its development.

Work on the plan will take place within the Swedish-Ukrainian WM4U Programme, which aims to support the development of modern, systemic, and environmentally responsible waste management solutions at local, regional and national levels. The program is funded by the Government of Sweden through Sida and led by Avfall Sverige and SALAR International.
